अहन्यहनि पार्थानां वृद्ध: कुरुपितामह: । भीष्मो दश सहस्राणि जघान परवीरहा

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കുരുക്കളുടെ വൃദ്ധ പിതാമഹനും ശത്രുവീരഹന്താവുമായ ഭീഷ്മൻ, പാർത്ഥന്മാരുടെ (പാണ്ഡവരുടെ) പത്തായിരം യോദ്ധാക്കളെ ദിനംപ്രതി വധിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
