स समन्तात् परिवृतों भारतो भरतर्षभ । निर्ददाह रणे शूरान् वने वह्निरिव ज्वलन्,भरतभूषण! उस रणक्षेत्रमें सब ओरसे घिरे हुए भीष्म वनमें प्रज्वलित हुए दावानलके समान शूरवीरोंको दग्ध करने लगे
sa samantāt parivṛto bhārato bharatarṣabha | nirdadāha raṇe śūrān vane vahnir iva jvalan ||
ഭരതശ്രേഷ്ഠാ! യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ എല്ലാടത്തുനിന്നും ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട ഭീഷ്മൻ വനത്തിലെ ദാവാനലത്തെപ്പോലെ ജ്വലിച്ച് വീരന്മാരെ ദഹിപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങി।
