तत: काष्ठै: सह तदा पपात धरणीतले । शत्रुदमन नरेश! बोझ भारी होनेके कारण वे बहुत थक गये। उनका शरीर लकड़ियोंके भारसे दब गया था। वे भूखसे पीड़ित हो रहे थे। जब आश्रमपर आकर उस बोझको वे जमीनपर गिराने लगे, उस समय चाँदीके तारकी भाँति सफेद रंगकी उनकी जटा लकड़ीमें चिपक गयी थी, जो उन लकड़ियोंके साथ ही जमीनपर गिर पड़ी

അപ്പോൾ വിറകുകളുടെ കെട്ടോടുകൂടി അവൻ നിലത്തേക്ക് വീണു. ശത്രുദമന നരേശാ! ഭാരമേറിയ കെട്ട് കാരണം അവൻ അത്യന്തം ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരുന്നു; വിറകുകളുടെ ഭാരത്തിൽ ശരീരം ഞെരിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു, വിശപ്പും അവനെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു. ആശ്രമത്തിലെത്തി ആ ഭാരം നിലത്ത് വെക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ, വെള്ളിത്തന്തുപോലെ വെളുത്ത അവന്റെ ജടകൾ വിറകുകളിൽ കുടുങ്ങിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ, അവയും വിറകുകളോടൊപ്പം നിലത്തേക്ക് വീണു.
