Merit of Ponds and Tree-Planting
अद्यप्रभृति चैवेह लोके सम्प्रचरिष्यति । पुण्यकेषु च सर्वेषु परमक्षय्यमेव च,आजसे इस जगत्में इन दोनों वस्तुओंका प्रचार होगा और पुण्यके सभी अवसरोंपर इनका दान उत्तम एवं अक्षय फल देनेवाला होगा
adyaprabhṛti caiveha loke saṃpracariṣyati | puṇyakeṣu ca sarveṣu paramakṣayyam eva ca ||
ഇന്നുമുതൽ ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ ഈ രണ്ടുവസ്തുക്കളുടെ ആചാരവും പ്രചാരവും തുടരും; എല്ലാ പുണ്യാവസരങ്ങളിലും അവ ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നത് പരമോന്നതവും അച്യുതവും അക്ഷയവുമായ ഫലം നൽകും।
सूर्य उवाच
That certain gifts or practices, when established and propagated, produce ‘akṣayya’ (imperishable) merit—especially when performed on all auspicious, merit-generating occasions—highlighting the Mahābhārata’s emphasis on dāna as a durable ethical and spiritual investment.
Sūrya, speaking within the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, declares that from that day forward these two items/practices will become current in the world, and that donating them at all meritorious times will grant the सर्वोत्तम and inexhaustible reward.
