तस्य भार्या रुचिनाम रूपेणासदृशी भुवि । पहलेकी बात है, देवशर्मा नामके एक महा-भाग्यशाली ऋषि थे। उनके रुचि नामवाली एक स्त्री थी जो इस पृथ्वीपर अद्वितीय सुन्दरी थी
tasya bhāryā rucinām rūpeṇāsadṛśī bhuvi |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയ്ക്ക് ‘രുചി’ എന്നായിരുന്നു പേര്; രൂപത്തിൽ അവൾ ഭൂമിയിൽ അസമാനയായിരുന്നു. പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് ദേവശർമ എന്ന മഹാഭാഗ്യശാലിയായ മുനി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ‘രുചി’ എന്ന ഭാര്യ ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽ അതുല്യസുന്ദരിയായിരുന്നു.
