यथा ह्ुपस्थितैश्वर्या: प्रजायन्ते न राजसा: । एवमेवात्मना5७त्मानं पूजयन्तीह धार्मिका:
yathā hy upasthitaiśvaryāḥ prajāyante na rājasāḥ | evam evātmanātmānaṃ pūjayantīha dhārmikāḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സ്ഥാപിതമായ ഐശ്വര്യമുള്ളവർ രജോഗുണപ്രേരിതമായ അതിവേഗ ശ്രമത്തോടെ പുനർജന്മം തേടുന്നില്ല; അതുപോലെ ധാർമ്മികർ ഇവിടെ ആത്മാവാൽ ആത്മാവിനെ തന്നെ പൂജിക്കുന്നു. ധർമ്മാനുഷ്ഠാനത്തിന്റെ ശാസനയാൽ, സ്വന്തം പരിശ്രമംകൊണ്ട്, അവർ അന്തഃസത്തയെ ഉന്നതസ്ഥാനത്തിലേക്ക് ഉയർത്തുന്നു—രജസ്സിന്റെ ആധിപത്യത്തിൽ വീണ്ടും ജനനമരണചക്രത്തിലേക്ക് വീഴാതിരിക്കാനായി.
