एतावन्मात्रमेतद्धि भूतानां प्राज्ञलक्षणम्‌ | कालयुक्तो5प्युभयविच्छेषं॑ युक्त समाचरेत्‌

Transliteration

etāvanmātram etaddhi bhūtānāṁ prājñalakṣaṇam | kālayukto 'py ubhayaviccheṣaṁ yuktaḥ samācaret |

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ജീവികളിലെ പ്രാജ്ഞതയുടെ അടയാളം ഇത്രമാത്രം: ധർമ്മഫലത്തിൽ വിശ്വാസം വെച്ച് ധർമ്മാചരണത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുക. കാലവും പ്രാരബ്ധവും പ്രതികൂലമായാലും, കർത്തവ്യവും അകർത്തവ്യവും തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നവൻ സാഹചര്യമനുസരിച്ച് യഥായോഗ്യം ധർമ്മം തന്നെയാചരിക്കണം.
