Educational Q&A

Regular devotional recitation (kīrtana) of the named deities is presented as a dharmic practice that removes inauspiciousness (nightmares), purifies moral fault (pāpa), and grants safe, auspicious return—linking inner purity with outer well-being.

In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs on dharma and religious observances. Here he states the fruit (phalaśruti) of daily praising/reciting the previously mentioned deities: nightmares cease, sins are removed, and the practitioner returns home safely.
