प्रत्यूषश्न प्रभासश्च॒ वसवोडूष्टौ प्रकीर्तिता: । धर, ध्रुव, सोम, सावित्र, अनिल, अनल, प्रत्यूष और प्रभास--ये आठ वसु कहे गये हैं
pratyūṣaś ca prabhāsaś ca vasavo ’ṣṭau prakīrtitāḥ | dharaḥ dhruvaḥ somaḥ sāvitraḥ anilaḥ analaḥ pratyūṣaḥ prabhāsaś ca—ete ’ṣṭau vasavaḥ smṛtāḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“പ്രത്യൂഷനും പ്രഭാസനും പേരോടെ പറയപ്പെടുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ വസുക്കൾ എട്ടെന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ധര, ധ്രുവ, സോമ, സാവിത്ര, അനില, അനല, പ്രത്യൂഷ, പ്രഭാസ—ഇവരാണ് എട്ട് വസുക്കൾ.”
