सत्त्ववान् सात्त्विक: सत्य: सत्यधर्मपरायण: । अभिप्राय: प्रियाहों5र्ह: प्रियकृत् प्रीतिवर्धन:
sattvavān sāttvikaḥ satyaḥ satyadharmaparāyaṇaḥ | abhiprāyaḥ priyāhaḥ arhaḥ priyakṛt prītivardhanaḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവൻ സത്ത്വവാൻ, സാത്ത്വികസ്വഭാവൻ; അവൻ സത്യം—സത്യഭാഷിയും സത്യധർമ്മപരായണനും. അവൻ പ്രേമികളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം—പരമ ഇഷ്ടൻ; അത്യന്തം പ്രിയമായതു അർപ്പിക്കാൻ യോഗ്യപാത്രം; എല്ലാവർക്കും അർഹൻ—പരമ പൂജ്യൻ; ഭക്തർക്കു പ്രിയം വരുത്തുന്നവൻ; പ്രേമിക്കുന്നവരുടെ പ്രീതിയെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ।
