प्रियो मे5यं प्रियोडस्पाहमिति सम्प्रेक्ष्य बुद्धिमान् वयस्यायैवमक्लिष्टं दानं दद्यादतन्द्रित:
priyo me ’yaṃ priyo ’smy aham iti samprekṣya buddhimān vayasyāyaivam akliṣṭaṃ dānaṃ dadyād atandritaḥ
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ‘ഇവൻ എനിക്ക് പ്രിയൻ, ഞാനും അവനു പ്രിയൻ’ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ച് ജ്ഞാനി അലസത വിട്ട് സുഹൃത്തിനോട് സന്തോഷത്തോടെ, ക്ലേശമില്ലാതെ ദാനം നൽകണം; ഇതു കാമനാമൂലക ദാനമാണ്।
