नास्याहं न मदीयो<यं पापं कुर्याद् विमानित: । इति दद्याद् भयादेव दृढं मूढाय पण्डित:
bhīṣma uvāca | nāsyāhaṃ na madīyo 'yaṃ pāpaṃ kuryād vimānitaḥ | iti dadyād bhayād eva dṛḍhaṃ mūḍhāya paṇḍitaḥ |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ‘ഞാൻ അവന്റേതല്ല, അവനും എന്റേതല്ല; എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ അവൻ അപമാനിതനായി എനിക്കെതിരേ പാപം ചെയ്യാം’ എന്ന ഭയത്താൽ മാത്രം ജ്ഞാനി മൂഢനു ദൃഢമായി ദാനം നൽകുന്നു; ഇതു ഭയമൂലക ദാനമാണ്।
