दीनश्न याचते चायमल्पेनापि हि तुष्यति । इति दद्याद्‌ दरिद्राय कारुण्यादिति सर्वथा

dīnaś ca yācate cāyam alpenāpi hi tuṣyati | iti dadyād daridrāya kāruṇyād iti sarvathā ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ‘ഇവൻ ദീനനും അത്യന്തം ദരിദ്രനും ആകുന്നു; എന്നോടു യാചിക്കുന്നു; അല്പം കൊടുത്താലും തൃപ്തനാകും’ എന്നു കരുതി, ദരിദ്രനു എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും കരുണയാൽ ദാനം നൽകണം।
