मदिराश्चश्व राजर्षिददत््वा कन्यां सुमध्यमाम् | हिरण्यहस्ताय गतो लोकान् देवैरधिष्ठितान्
madirāś caśva rājarṣir dattvā kanyāṁ sumadhyamām | hiraṇyahastāya gato lokān devair adhiṣṭhitān ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജർഷി മദിരാശ്വൻ ഹിരണ്യഹസ്തന് സുമധ്യയായ കന്യയെ നൽകി, ദേവന്മാർ അധിഷ്ഠിക്കുന്ന ലോകങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോയി. ഇത് ധാർമ്മിക ദാനത്തിന്റെയും, വിധിപൂർവ്വമായ വിവാഹബന്ധത്തിന്റെ മര്യാദയുടെയും പുണ്യഫലമാണ്.
