Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
शक्रेण तु पुरा देवो वाराणस्यां जनार्दन । आराधितो<भूद् भक्तेन दिग्वासा भस्मगुण्ठित:
śakreṇa tu purā devo vārāṇasyāṃ janārdana | ārādhito 'bhūd bhaktena digvāsā bhasmaguṇṭhitaḥ ||
പുരാതനകാലത്ത് വാരാണസിയിൽ ശക്രൻ ഭക്തിയോടെ ജനാർദനനെ ആരാധിച്ചു; അവൻ ദിഗംബര തപസ്വിയുടെ രൂപത്തിൽ, ദേഹം മുഴുവൻ ഭസ്മം പുരട്ടി മൂടപ്പെട്ടവനായി പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
