Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
नारदेन तु भक्त्यासौ भव आराधित: पुरा
nāraden tu bhaktyāsau bhava ārādhitaḥ purā | gītena vāditavyena nityaṃ mām anuyāsyasi ||
പുരാതനകാലത്ത് ദേവർഷി നാരദൻ ഭക്തിയോടെ ഭവനെ (ശിവനെ) ആരാധിച്ചു. ആ ഭക്തിയിൽ പ്രസന്നനായ ഭവൻ വരം നൽകി—“ഗാനവും വാദ്യവാദനവും കൊണ്ട് നീ നിത്യവും എന്നെ അനുഗമിച്ച് പ്രസ്താവിക്കും.”
