अध्याय १३२ — कर्मणा मनसा वाचा: स्वर्गमार्गः तथा आयुर्विपाकः

Adhyāya 132 — The path to heaven through deed, mind, and speech; karmic results for lifespan

देवता: पितरश्वैव उत्सवे पर्वणीषु वा । निराशा: प्रतिगच्छन्ति कश्मलोपहताद गृहात्‌,लक्ष्मी बोलीं--जिस घरमें सब पात्र इधर-उधर बिखरे पड़े हों, बर्तन फ़ूटे और आसन फटे हों तथा जहाँ स्त्रियाँ मारी-पीटी जाती हों, वह घर पापके कारण दूषित होता है। पापसे दूषित हुए उस गृहसे उत्सव और पर्वके अवसरोंपर देवता और पितर निराश लौट जाते हैं-- उस घरकी पूजा नहीं स्वीकार करते

devatāḥ pitaraś caiva utsave parvaṇīṣu vā | nirāśāḥ pratigacchanti kaśmalopahatād gṛhāt ||

ഉത്സവത്തിലും പർവ്വദിനങ്ങളിലും പോലും, പാപംകൊണ്ട് ആഹതമായ ആ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ദേവന്മാരും പിതൃക്കളും നിരാശരായി മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.
