Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

नारुन्तुदः स्यान्न नृशंसवादी न हीनत: परमभ्याददीत । ययास्य वाचा पर उद्विजेत नतां वदेद्‌ रुशतीं पापलोक्याम्‌

Transliteration

nāruṃtudaḥ syān na nṛśaṃsavādī na hīnataḥ param abhyādadīta | yayāsya vācā para udvijeta na tāṃ vaded ruśatīṃ pāpalokyām ||

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ മർമ്മത്തെ മുറിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനാകരുത്; ക്രൂരവാക്കുകൾ പറയരുത്. മറ്റൊരാളെ താഴ്ത്തി അവനെ മറികടക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കരുത്. മറ്റുള്ളവരെ വ്യാകുലപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന രൂക്ഷവാക്കുകൾ പാപലോകത്തിലേക്കാണ് നയിക്കുന്നത്; അതുകൊണ്ട് അത്തരം വാക്കുകൾ ഒരിക്കലും പറയരുത്.
