Āstīka-stuti at Janamejaya’s Sacrifice (आस्तीकस्तुतिः / यज्ञप्रशंसा)
वहन्तं राजशार्दूल स्कन्धेनानपकारिणम् | तपस्विनमतीवाथ त॑ मुनिप्रवरं नूप
janamejaya uvāca | vahantaṁ rājaśārdūla skandhenānapakāriṇam | tapasvinam atīvātha taṁ munipravaraṁ nṛpa ||
ജനമേജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജശാർദൂലാ, രാജേന്ദ്രാ! ആ മുനിപ്രവരൻ കുറ്റമില്ലാതെയും തോളിൽ ഹാനിയില്ലാത്ത ഒരു ജീവിയെ വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ, മൗന-സമാധിയിൽ നിലകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ആ മുനിശ്രേഷ്ഠ തപസ്വിയെ നിന്റെ പിതാവ് പരീക്ശിത് അപമാനിച്ചു; അവന്റെ തോളിൽ ഒരു മരിച്ച പാമ്പിനെ വെച്ചു.
