वैशम्पायन उवाच यदर्थ शार्कईकानग्निर्न ददाह तथागते । तत्‌ ते सर्व प्रवक्ष्यामि यथाभूतमरिंदम

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | yadarthaṃ śārkāikān agnir na dadāha tathāgate | tat te sarvaṃ pravakṣyāmi yathābhūtam ariṃdama ||

Translation

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ശത്രുദമനാ! ആ ഭയങ്കര അഗ്നികാണ്ഡം സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടും അഗ്നിദേവൻ ഏതു കാരണത്താൽ ശാർകഈകരെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചില്ല, ആ സംഭവം യഥാവിധി എങ്ങനെ നടന്നു—അത് എല്ലാം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു യഥാർത്ഥമായി പറയും. കേൾക്കുക.
