तदेतददभुतं ब्रह्मज्छा्डकाणामनामयम् | कीर्तयस्वाग्निसम्मर्दे कथं ते न विनाशिता:
tad etad adbhutaṁ brahma śāṇḍakānām anāmayam | kīrtayasva agni-sammarde kathaṁ te na vināśitāḥ ||
ജനമേജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ബ്രാഹ്മണനേ! ആ ഭയങ്കരമായ അഗ്നികാണ്ഡത്തിൽ ശാർകുകകൾ ക്ഷതം കൂടാതെ രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടത് അത്യന്തം അത്ഭുതകരമാണ്. ദയവായി പറയുക—അഗ്നിയുടെ ആ പ്രചണ്ഡ സംമർദ്ദത്തിനിടയിൽ അവർ എങ്ങനെ നശിച്ചില്ല?
