Dharma is shown as practical conduct: honoring and serving a guest—even one who is difficult—demands patience, discipline, and sincere effort. Pṛthā’s success illustrates that steadfast atithi-sevā can transform a severe test into spiritual merit and future benefit.
Vaiśampāyana describes the arrival of the sage Durvāsā, known for keeping his dharmic resolve concealed and for his fierce nature. Pṛthā (Kuntī) serves him with great care and, despite his severity, manages to please him fully.
