dvārasya pārśve te tasthur devā devasya dhīmataḥ tuṣṭuvuś ca mahādevaṃ kiṃcid udvignacetasaḥ
Suta Goswami (outer narration)
It shows the proper approach to Mahādeva: pausing at the threshold with humility and offering stuti, indicating that devotion and reverent entry precede any ritual act of Linga-pūjā.
Śiva is presented as Devadeva and dhīmat (supremely discerning), the Pati who receives the Devas’ praise and stabilizes their disturbed minds—hinting at his role as the inner governor beyond fear and agitation.
Stuti (praise) as a preparatory limb: calming udvigna-citta through remembrance of the Pati, which aligns with Pāśupata discipline where surrender and focused invocation precede deeper practice.
