वंशानुवर्णनम् — सात्वतवंशः, स्यमन्तक-प्रसङ्गः, कृष्णावतारः, शिवप्रसादः (पाशुपतयोगः)

तस्यासीत् तुम्बुरुसखो विद्वान्पुत्रो नलः किल ख्यायते स सुनाम्ना तु चन्दनानकदुन्दुभिः

Transliteration

tasyāsīt tumburusakho vidvānputro nalaḥ kila khyāyate sa sunāmnā tu candanānakadundubhiḥ

Translation

അവന് നലൻ എന്ന ജ്ഞാനിയായ പുത്രൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ തുംബുരുവിന്റെ സഖാവായി പ്രസിദ്ധൻ. തന്റെ സുനാമംകൊണ്ട് അവൻ ‘ചന്ദനാനക-ദുന്ദുഭി’ എന്ന പേരിൽ ഖ്യാതനായി—ചന്ദനസുഗന്ധമുള്ള മൃദംഗധ്വനി പോലെ.
