Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas — Brahmahatyā, Association with the Fallen, and Tīrtha-Based Purification

अकृत्वा विहितं कर्म कृत्वा निन्दितमेव च / दोषमाप्नोति पुरुषः प्रायश्चित्तं विशोधनम्

akṛtvā vihitaṃ karma kṛtvā ninditameva ca / doṣamāpnoti puruṣaḥ prāyaścittaṃ viśodhanam

വിഹിതമായ കര്‍മ്മം ചെയ്യാതെയും നിന്ദിതമായ കര്‍മ്മം ചെയ്തും മനുഷ്യന്‍ ദോഷം നേടുന്നു; ആ ദോഷത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന പരിഹാരമാണ് പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം.
