इति श्रीकूर्मपुराणे षट्साहस्त्र्यां संहितायामुपरिविभागे एकोनत्रिंशो ऽध्यायः व्यास उवाच अतः परं प्रवलक्ष्यामि प्रायश्चित्तविधिं शुभम् / हिताय सर्वविप्राणां दोषाणामपनुत्तये

ഇങ്ങനെ ശ്രീകൂർമപുരാണത്തിലെ ഷട്സാഹസ്ത്രീ സംഹിതയുടെ ഉത്തര-വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതാം അധ്യായം (ആരംഭം). വ്യാസൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇനി ഞാൻ പ്രായശ്ചിത്തത്തിന്റെ ശുഭമായ വിധിയെ വ്യക്തമായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കും; അത് എല്ലാ വിപ്രന്മാരുടെയും ഹിതത്തിനും ദോഷനിവാരണത്തിനും ആകുന്നു.
