FAQs

This verse is primarily geographic-narrative: it situates the story at Gaṅgādvāra and introduces Dakṣa’s sacrificial arena; it does not directly teach ātman-doctrine, but it prepares the setting where dharma, ritual power, and divine presence become thematically contrasted in later passages.

No explicit yoga practice is taught in this line; the emphasis is on arriving at a tīrtha (Gaṅgādvāra) and witnessing a yajña-site—elements that, in Purāṇic religion, support purification and readiness for higher teachings such as those later systematized as Pāśupata-oriented discipline in the Kurma Purana.

The verse does not name Śiva or Viṣṇu directly; it frames the Dakṣa-yajña context, which elsewhere becomes a key narrative for understanding the limits of ritual without devotion—often used in the Kurma Purana’s broader Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis to affirm divine supremacy beyond mere sacrificial display.
