Puṁsavana / Viṣṇu-vrata: Worship of Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇa for Auspicious Progeny and Fortune
श्रीशुक उवाच शुक्ले मार्गशिरे पक्षे योषिद्भर्तुरनुज्ञया । आरभेत व्रतमिदं सार्वकामिकमादित: ॥ २ ॥ निशम्य मरुतां जन्म ब्राह्मणाननुमन्त्र्य च । स्नात्वा शुक्लदती शुक्ले वसीतालङ्कृताम्बरे । पूजयेत्प्रातराशात्प्राग्भगवन्तं श्रिया सह ॥ ३ ॥

മാർഗശീർഷ മാസത്തിലെ ശുക്ലപക്ഷ പ്രതിപദയിൽ, ഭർത്താവിന്റെ അനുവാദത്തോടെ സ്ത്രീ സർവകാമസിദ്ധി നൽകുന്ന ഈ വ്രതം ആരംഭിക്കണം. മരുതന്മാരുടെ ജന്മകഥ ശ്രവിച്ച് ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ യുക്തമായ അനുമതി നേടി, പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ പല്ലുകൾ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ച് സ്നാനം ചെയ്ത്, വെള്ള വസ്ത്രവും ആഭരണങ്ങളും ധരിച്ചു, പ്രാതൽ കഴിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് ശ്രീലക്ഷ്മീസഹിതം വിഷ്ണുഭഗവാനെ ഭക്തിയോടെ പൂജിക്കണം।
