एवं तस्या व्रतस्थाया व्रतच्छिद्रं हरिर्नृप । प्रेप्सु: पर्यचरज्जिह्मो मृगहेव मृगाकृति: ॥ ५८ ॥
evaṁ tasyā vrata-sthāyā vrata-cchidraṁ harir nṛpa prepsuḥ paryacaraj jihmo mṛga-heva mṛgākṛtiḥ
ഹേ നൃപ പരീക്ഷിത്! മാൻ വേട്ടക്കാരൻ മാൻതോൽ ധരിച്ചു മാൻപോലെ ആകുന്നതുപോലെ, ദിതിപുത്രന്മാരുടെ അന്തർശത്രുവായ ഇന്ദ്രൻ പുറമേ സുഹൃത്തായി നടിച്ച് ദിതിയെ അത്യന്തം സൂക്ഷ്മമായി സേവിച്ചു. വ്രതത്തിൽ ചെറിയൊരു പിഴവ് കിട്ടിയാൽ ഉടൻ വഞ്ചിക്കാനായിരുന്നു ലക്ഷ്യം; അതുകൊണ്ട് പിടിക്കപ്പെടാതെ വളരെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ പെരുമാറി.
