This verse highlights a defining feature of the Lord’s manifest pastimes in Dvārakā: Kṛṣṇa is not merely a revered elder or a political leader—He is the living standard (pramāṇa) of truth, conduct, and right judgment for His devotees. The queens’ lives, and indeed the entire Yādava community, found stability and increase because their center was Bhagavān. In Bhāgavata theology, prosperity (vṛddhi) is not only material expansion; it also implies protection, cohesion, and the growth of dharma when society aligns itself with the Lord’s will. The phrase “by His lordship” (prabhutvena) underscores that Kṛṣṇa’s authority is intrinsic, not granted by institutions or lineage. When the Yādavas “followed Him” (anugamana/anvartanam), their success was the natural consequence of surrendering to the perfect guide. The verse thus teaches a practical bhakti principle: spiritual and social well-being increase when one accepts Kṛṣṇa as the final reference point for decisions, values, and purpose—rather than the shifting measures of ego, fashion, or mere power.

FAQs

This verse states that Lord Hari Himself became the standard of authority for them, meaning devotees measure truth and right action by Kṛṣṇa’s will and example.

Because they followed Kṛṣṇa’s guidance; aligning with Bhagavān brought protection, unity, and the growth of dharma, resulting in their flourishing.

Make Kṛṣṇa’s teachings and devotional values your decision-standard—choose actions that support devotion, integrity, and service rather than ego-driven goals.
