FAQs

It prescribes a concrete Shiva-puja procedure: using specific worship substances (honey, ghee, milk, dūrvā, and a designated root) with a fixed ritual count of 108, followed by installing and worshiping the liṅga on a prepared sthiṇḍila (ritual platform).

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s manual-like coverage of applied religion—giving step-by-step temple/household ritual instructions (materials, counts, and ritual setting), alongside its many other domains such as polity, medicine, and aesthetics.

By standardizing pure offerings and the auspicious count of 108 for liṅga worship on a consecrated platform, the verse frames the act as a disciplined, merit-producing (puṇya) rite aimed at purification and successful consecration of Shiva worship.
