It provides a liturgical name-list (nāmāvali) of devapatnīs (divine consorts) intended for remembrance, invocation, or recitation within pūjā/japa contexts.
By cataloguing divine names and functional epithets (like Vanaspati), it preserves ritual taxonomy—an encyclopedic feature of the Agni Purāṇa alongside its law, medicine, architecture, and other technical sections.
Reciting and remembering these divine consorts is treated as a purifying act that supports auspiciousness (śiva/maṅgala), prosperity (ṛddhi), and well-being associated with fertility and vegetation (vanaspati).
