FAQs

It conveys Ayurvedic/Rasashastra drug-knowledge: specific metals/minerals (tin, lead, realgar), plant-drugs, and a processing directive—barley-alkali (yava-kṣāra) must be prepared by cooking/heating (pākya).

By cataloging pharmacological substances and brief manufacturing notes (like alkali preparation), it shows the Agni Purana functioning as a compendium that includes practical medical and pharmaceutic know-how alongside theology and ritual.

While primarily technical, such correct preparation and use of remedies supports dharma through protection of health and effective, non-harmful practice—right knowledge (yathā-vidhi) is treated as meritorious because it prevents misuse of potent substances.
