It prescribes a sequence in an auspicious rite: ritual intake of curd, worship of cows, circumambulation of the sacred fire, and then holding a bull-contest outside the core ritual area with music.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purana also records practical social-religious customs—cattle veneration, fire-ritual etiquette, and festival-style public activities—showing its coverage of lived ritual culture beyond formal sacrifices.
Honouring cows and circumambulating Agni are framed as auspicious, purificatory acts that support merit (puṇya) and ritual completeness, while keeping the noisy public festivity outside protects the sanctity of the main rite.
