FAQs

It gives Ayurvedic technical knowledge: a taila-kalpanā (medicated oil) cooked in milk-decoction with harītakī paste and spices (trikatu, turmeric, etc.) for relieving ailments such as urinary complaints and wasting/consumption-type disorders; it also briefly notes an archaic grammatical gender convention (Ārṣa usage).

Within a single passage it juxtaposes śāstraic grammar (affix/rule labels and gender convention) with practical Ayurveda (drug list and cooking method for medicated oil), illustrating how the Agni Purana compiles multi-disciplinary knowledge—linguistics and medicine—side by side.

By prescribing a therapeutic preparation intended to relieve suffering—especially of the dvijas—the verse frames healing as a dharmic act: preserving health supports ritual duty (nitya-karma) and purity, thereby aiding righteous living and the capacity to pursue spiritual practice.
