It teaches the preparation of a specific count of medicated threads/cords (seventeen), using a threefold-divided cord and impregnating it with auspicious aromatic/medicinal substances such as gorocanā, aguru, camphor, turmeric, and saffron.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purāṇa preserves practical recipes and applied knowledge—here, a technical list of dravyas (materials) and a method of preparation (thread-count and threefold division), reflecting its compendium-style coverage of ritual technology and materia medica.
Using purified, fragrant, and auspicious substances in a prescribed manner is traditionally understood to promote śuddhi (purity), maṅgala (auspiciousness), and protective merit when employed in sanctioned rites.
