Ṛṣayaḥ (the sages)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Viśākha (addressed as ‘vipra’/‘mune’)
Scene: The sages respond with serene smiles, declaring that the disciple’s attained success is itself their dakṣiṇā; both sides appear satisfied, signaling completion of the teaching cycle.
The highest offering to spiritual guides is the disciple’s realization and right attainment—success itself becomes the dakṣiṇā.
The verse occurs in Prabhāsa-kṣetra māhātmya; it primarily teaches dharma within the narrative.
Dakṣiṇā is discussed, with a deeper teaching that attainment (siddhi) is the most meaningful ‘offering’ to one’s teachers.
