Śiva (addressing Devī)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa
Type: kshetra
Listener: Varānanā/Devī (addressed as ‘O fair-faced one’)
Scene: A luminous coastal kṣetra where the assembled devas, with Indra and the Vāsavas, regain a lost brilliance; the land itself seems to glow as if dawn has settled on earth.
The kṣetra’s very name encodes its power: Prabhāsa is a source of ‘prabhā’—spiritual brilliance—capable of uplifting even the devas.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra, whose name is linked to primordial and subsequent cosmic ages (kalpas).
No direct prescription; it provides sacred etymology and mythic justification for the kṣetra’s glory.
