śrīśaṃkara uvāca | asaṃkhye yāstvamī devī asaṃkhyeyābhidhāstathā | jagadāpūritaṃ sarvametairbhīmairmahābalaiḥ
Śiva (Śrī Śaṅkara)
Listener: Pārvatī (Devī)
Scene: Śaṅkara answers with calm authority: the host is numberless and fills the world; behind him, the gaṇas appear as an endless horizon of varied, formidable figures.
Śiva’s power manifests through countless forms and names; the divine cannot be limited by human counting or categories.
No specific tirtha is identified; the verse emphasizes cosmic scale rather than a pilgrimage geography.
None explicitly; the verse supports devotional remembrance of Śiva’s innumerable names and forms.
