Mārkaṇḍeya
Listener: A king (bhūpati/mahīpati)
Scene: Sage Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a king, urging single-pointed listening; the Revā’s sacred ambience is implied as the narrative gateway to a supreme tīrtha.
Śravaṇa (devout listening) to tīrtha-mahātmya is itself transformative—purifying even subtle sins of speech.
A ‘mahat tīrtha’ described as surpassing other tīrthas; its specific name is not stated in this verse.
Single-minded listening (śravaṇa) to the account of the tīrtha’s prabhāva is recommended as a purificatory practice.
