पृ॒थि॒वी छन्दो॒ ऽन्तरि॑क्षं॒ छन्दो॒ द्यौ॒श्छन्द॒: समा॒श्छन्दो॒ नक्ष॑त्राणि॒ छन्दो॒ वाक् छन्दो॒ मन॒श्छन्द॑: कृ॒षिश्छन्दो॒ हिर॑ण्यं॒ छन्दो॒ गौश्छन्दो॒ ऽजाश्छन्दो ऽश्व॒श्छन्द॑:
pṛthivī chándo ’ntárikṣaṃ chándo dyáuś chándaḥ samā́ś chándo nákṣatrāṇi chándo vāk chándo mánaś chándaḥ kṛ́ṣiś chándo híraṇyaṃ chándo gáuś chándo ’jā́ś chándo ’śváś chándaḥ
The Earth is the metre; the Mid-air is the metre; Heaven is the metre; the Seasons are the metre; the Stars are the metre; Speech is the metre; Mind is the metre; Husbandry is the metre; Gold is the metre; the Cow is the metre; the Goats are the metre; the Horse is the metre.
