Sūta Gosvāmi (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya; this is a colophon-style closure)
Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ dvitīye satīkhaṇḍe satīśivakrīḍāvarṇanaṃ nāmaikaviṃśodhyāyaḥ
This is a chapter-colophon that seals the teaching as śāstra: it frames Satī and Śiva’s līlā as sacred instruction, guiding the devotee to view divine relationship and devotion as a means to inner purification and steadfast bhakti toward Pati (Śiva).
By naming the chapter as Satī-Śiva līlā, it points to Saguna Śiva—Śiva known through attributes, deeds, and compassionate play—through which devotees approach the formless (Nirguṇa) reality. Such narratives support devotional worship, including liṅga-upāsanā, by deepening love and reverence for Śiva.
As a colophon it gives no direct rite, but the practical takeaway is śravaṇa (listening/reading) and smaraṇa (remembrance) of Śiva’s līlā with devotion, ideally accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
