tadā ca teṣāṃ suradānavānāṃ babhūva yuddhaṃ tumulaṃ jayaiṣiṇām | sukhāvahaṃ vīramanasvināṃ vai bhayāvahaṃ caiva tathetareṣām

It highlights how the same life-event (conflict, struggle, testing) is experienced differently according to inner steadiness: the courageous meet it with clarity and resolve, while the unsteady are overwhelmed by fear—pointing to the Shaiva emphasis on cultivating firm-mindedness and dharmic courage.
In Shaiva thought, Saguna Shiva (the Lord with attributes) is the protector who grants fearlessness and steadiness to devotees; remembrance of Shiva and surrender to his lordship (Pati) transforms turmoil into purposeful effort rather than panic.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” for inner fearlessness and steadiness; mentally applying Tripuṇḍra-bhasma remembrance and Rudrākṣa-supported japa can reinforce courage during adversity.
