Tattva Level: pasha

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it describes systemic cosmic imbalance (vāyu immobilized) as a consequence of divine līlā, prompting fear and dependence.

Significance: Teaches contingency of the worlds: when sustaining forces falter, beings recognize their bondage (pāśa) and seek the Lord’s protection; supports śaraṇāgati practice.

Cosmic Event: Cosmic vāyu (samīraṇa) ‘stambhita’ leading to tri-loka distress—an omen-like disruption of sustaining order.

FAQs

It highlights that when the sustaining order of the cosmos is obstructed, even the three worlds tremble—pointing the seeker toward Pati (Shiva) as the ultimate, unshakable support beyond worldly fear.

The Linga symbolizes the stable axis of reality; this verse contrasts that stability with the vulnerability of created supports (like vāyu). Saguna Shiva is worshiped as the Lord who restores balance when cosmic functions become disturbed.

Steady the “inner vāyu” through japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and calm breathing; mentally take refuge in Shiva as the unwavering support when fear and instability arise.
