वैशम्पायन उवाच
Gentle, peace-oriented counsel (sāman) is a dharmic first response; ignoring rightful warnings out of pride leads to escalation and the loss of moral standing, inviting stronger corrective action.
Gandharvas attempt to stop the Kuru troops with conciliatory words, but the soldiers disregard them and proceed; the Gandharvas then report the situation to their leader, King Citrasena, setting up the ensuing confrontation.
