Educational Q&A

True spiritual authority is grounded in inner realization: through vairāgya (detachment) and abhyāsa (disciplined practice), one gains divya-dṛṣṭi (purified vision) and can directly realize the Lord (sākṣātkāra). Public praise is presented as the natural consequence of such realized devotion, not its goal.

Vaiśampāyana is extolling a devotee/ascetic figure, describing him as Nārāyaṇa-like and universally praised in the hereafter, and affirming that he has repeatedly had direct visions of Viṣṇu, the cosmic creator, through yogic opening of the inner heart-lotus and the spiritual power born of detachment and practice.
