अध्याय १: महाप्रस्थानारम्भः
The Commencement of the Great Departure
प्रस्थितान् द्रौपदीषष्ठान् पुरा द्यृूतजितान् यथा । हर्षोउभवच्च सर्वेषां भ्रातृणां गमन॑ प्रति
prasthitān draupadī-ṣaṣṭhān purā dyūtajitān yathā | harṣo 'bhavac ca sarveṣāṃ bhrātṝṇāṃ gamanaṃ prati ||
ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: ເມື່ອພວກເຂົາອອກເດີນທາງ—ບຸລຸດຜູ້ປະເສີດເຫຼົ່ານັ້ນ, ພີ່ນ້ອງຫ້າຄົນ ໂດຍມີດຣໍປະດີເປັນຄົນທີຫົກ—ເຊັ່ນດຽວກັບຄັ້ງກ່ອນທີ່ພວກເຂົາເຂົ້າປ່າຫຼັງຈາກພ່າຍໃນການຫຼິ້ນລູກເຕົ໋າ, ໃນວັນນັ້ນຍິງໃນເມືອງກໍຮ້ອງໄຫ້ເມື່ອເຫັນພວກເຂົາຈາກໄປ. ແຕ່ສໍາລັບພີ່ນ້ອງທັງຫມົດ ການເດີນທາງນີ້ເອງກັບກາຍເປັນແຫຼ່ງແຫ່ງຄວາມປິຕິຍິນດີອັນໃຫຍ່ຫຼວງ.
