देशानां च परीमाणं नगराणां च संजय । श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वेन यत एते समागता:,“संजय! ये लोग जहाँ-जहाँसे आये हैं, उन देशों और नगरोंका यथार्थ परिमाण मैं तुमसे सुनना चाहता हूँ
deśānāṃ ca parīmāṇaṃ nagarāṇāṃ ca saṃjaya | śrotum icchāmi tattvena yata ete samāgatāḥ ||
ໄວສຳປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ສັນຊະຍະ, ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າປາຖະໜາຈະຟັງຢ່າງຖືກຕ້ອງ ເຖິງຂະໜາດ ແລະ ຂອບເຂດທີ່ແທ້ຈິງຂອງດິນແດນ ແລະ ເມືອງທີ່ພວກວິລະຊົນເຫຼົ່ານີ້ໄດ້ມາຈາກ.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined inquiry: seeking an accurate, truthful account (tattvena) before forming understanding—an ethical posture of respecting facts within a charged wartime narrative.
The speaker asks Sañjaya to describe precisely the regions and cities from which the assembled forces have come, setting up a detailed account of the gathered participants and their origins.
