योगिनामपि यो योगी कारणानां च कारणम् | यतो लोका: सम्भवन्ति न भवन्ति यत: पुन:
yoginām api yo yogī kāraṇānāṃ ca kāraṇam | yato lokāḥ sambhavanti na bhavanti yataḥ punaḥ ||

वायुदेव उवाच
The verse presents Śiva as the supreme principle: the highest yogin and the ultimate cause from whom creation proceeds and into whom it dissolves. It also emphasizes the religious efficacy of śravaṇa (listening) to the divine names as a means to attain desired ends and spiritual merit.
Vāyudeva begins a eulogy that introduces the recitation of Śiva’s thousand-and-eight names. He frames the hymn by describing Śiva’s cosmic status (source and dissolution of worlds) and promises fruit (kāma-siddhi) from hearing the forthcoming nāma-recitation.
