श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
The verse frames an ethical ideal of balanced life: restraint toward revered social and spiritual authorities (non-anger toward dvijas), cultivation of parental goodwill, maintenance of harmony within the lineage, and the pursuit of prosperity only alongside inner peace and practical competence. It presents dharma as integrating social conduct, family responsibilities, and personal self-mastery.
Śrīkṛṣṇa is presented as articulating a set of desired boons—eight aims—covering respectful conduct toward brāhmaṇas, the satisfaction of father and mother, the blessing of many sons, access to excellent enjoyments, familial concord, attainment of calmness, and skill in all endeavors.
